pichón is a space dedicated
to contemporary and emerging Puerto Rican Artists.
Contemporary and Emerging Art
We aim to provide new opportunities for emerging and contemporary Puerto Rican artists. As such, we have dedicated this space to 'share wall' a the gallery.
pichón seeks to nurture a voice around Puerto Rican artistic expression while helping define a place in the contemporary art world for artists from the Island and the Diaspora, As a regional subset of Latin American art, Puerto Rican art uniquely reflects both on shared contemporary cultural expressions and distinct identity. This cultural identity is what makes Puerto Rican art different and sought after by collectors.
pichón offerings are mainly available online with occasional exhibits in the Island and abroad.
Pichón means pigeon hatchling in Spanish.

HUBERT CAÑO
Lo que sale de mi boca... Caviar
Bricolage, oil on canvas, mixed media with found objects 16 x 16 in.
The true meaning of words, like caviar, are not meant for everyone. This piece's composition recalls the symbolism of heraldic crests as a synopsis of self-identity. Words originate in the mind. The beauty of the sturgeon's eggs are clustered in the upper left canton.
Photographed here to provide scale and ambiance to its presence, this painting is a shimmering delight to behold.
