Stephen Karpman
Stephen Karpman is an internationally known psychiatrist living in San Francisco who recently retired to paint full-time and his lifelong love of abstractions. He has a long-standing worldwide reputation and lectures on his contributions to the field and the development of the “Karpman Drama Triangle”. Today, the San Francisco based, Ruso-Hispanic ancestry artist is well-known as a West Coast abstract painter.
From his young years at the Nation's Capital, Steve was influenced by The Washington Color School and exhibited in the famous 1965 exhibition at the Washington Gallery of Modern Art, "Washington Color Painters," curated by Gerald Nordland. His paintings have been exhibited in six museums in DC, Raleigh and San Francisco.
He has also done work in film playing supporting roles, including two films for George Lucas: THX1138 and Star Wars.
